Version 2.3.5 Released

28/11/2009: Thanks to further development by Pekka Räsänen and Alex Maslov (Niilo Mäki Institute), a new version of Number Race (v2.3.5) is now available in all languages, except Greek (v2.21). This version has the following improvements:

Languages

The Number Race is currently available in Dutch, English (US), Finnish, French, German, Greek, Spanish and Swedish.

Versions which are known to be currently under production include Hungarian and Italian.

Many thanks to those who have helped to produce translated versions: Bert De Smedt (Dutch), Roland Wilhelm (English), Helga Krinzinger (German), Ileria Berteletti (Italian), Josep M. Interested in making a translation?

If you're interested in making a translation of The Number Race in a language not listed above, we will shortly be making available a "Translation Pack" on SourceForge which will allow you to easily make a new language pack. We also suggest you contact or , because they can advise you if anyone else is making a translation in that language.

Operating systems

Both versions 2.3 and 2.3.5 work with Windows 2000, XP, and Vista (but not Windows 7 yet). Apparently The Number Race can be run on a mac from the unix command line, as long as your mac OS includes Java. We hope to have a more user-friendly mac version available at some point. *** Note: update info on running with Mac, Unix from user emails ***

Please note that the software is provided without user support. Consult the software documentation for installation and use instructions.

Known bugs

The software contains some minor known bugs, which can be viewed in the SourceForge bug database. You may with reports of further bugs, and we will endeavour to fix major bugs where possible. Currently there are no major known bugs.

Further development

The software is written in Java, and is open-source, distributed under the GNU general public license. If you would like to further develop the software, you need to first download the English version source code.

Please note that you are in turn obliged to distribute any developments you make under the conditions of the GNU general public license.

We recommend to inform us that you are developing the software, because she can help you with developer documentation.

The software makes use of two other open-source modules: BeanShell (GNU LPGL), and JMAT (GNU LPGL), as well as selected modules from David Brackeen.
